The crowdfunding campaign for Broken Planet is launching on Kickstarter today:

The gameplay is very smooth with little to no downtime: With the active player making offers while the other players are moving and collecting, everything happens simultaneously.

The player who’s performing the offer phase can spend gems in order to:
Place temples from the player board on the game board and unlock their effects, giving various advantages for the rest of the game.
Craft relics – these give you favor points at the end of the game, but can be stolen by other players.
Or offer rubies to attack certain islands on the map.

In the meantime, the other players will secretly choose which island they’ll move to in order to collect the gems from the temples on their destination.

When players move to an island targeted by the active player, they first collect gems and subsequently have to discard half of the gemstones in their hand. Additionally, the attacker may pick one of their relics and place it into his own collection.

The game ends after a certain number of rounds, depending on the number of players, and everyone can now spend their remaining gems to make offers. Players receive favor points from their temples and relics, and whoever has the most points wins the game.

I really love how all players act simultaneously, the game plays very fast. The attacking feels very indirect and is more of a deduction game, nonetheless it can certainly hurt to lose half of your gems, especially when playing with 4 and you would be the next player to go into the offer phase. Overall we think Broken Planet is a fun and solid game that’s definitely worth taking a look at!
