About us

Hey, we’re Wouter and Ymke, a couple who share a love for board games, and together we are Tabletopping. Our three kids often join us at the table and have their own favorite type of games, which keeps things varied and helps us see how different games work for different kinds of players. We probably spend more time than we should surrounded by cardboard, dice, and meeples but it’s one of the things that keeps our family closely connected.

We’ve both been playing games since we were young and continued playing in the first years of our relationship with games as Agricola and Pandemic. Our Tabletopping story truly began in 2015. We started the Instagram page right after we impulsively decided to head to Spiel Essen. What began as a few casual photos of our game nights quickly turned into a small community where we answered questions from other players. Before long, those answers turned into short posts, the short posts turned into long ones, and eventually, they just didn’t fit on Instagram anymore. That’s when this website was born.

Most of our gaming happens at home, sometimes with our kids, sometimes with friends who drop by, and sometimes just the two of us. We also enjoy visiting game events from time to time.
What we love most about board games is how they bring people together. They create laughter, conversation, and real connection in a world that is often dominated by screens.

On our page we want to show the games in a way that does them justice. You’ll find clear info about how they play, what makes their mechanics tick, and which type of players will enjoy them most. Because not every type of game fits each player.

Our goal is to make modern board gaming feel approachable and personal, both for people that are new to the hobby and those who’ve been around a bit longer. So, join our table and maybe you’ll find a game that fits yours just right.
