In Circus players join the greatest circus in town, train their best performers in different specialties and make them perform in the hope of receiving the biggest applause.
The game is played over the course of seven rounds, during which players play costume, inspiration, impression, practice and talent upgrade cards to make their performers better in their specialty. At the end of each round one each player’s artists will be sent into the arena to perform and try to get the biggest applause of the audience and thus scoring the most points.
During the rehearsal phase it’s also possible to develop the circus giving, players a higher number of artists in their caravan or more upgrade cards at the end of the show to train their performers in the next round. The player who can present the best artists will score the most points and win the game.

Circus is a game that’s easy to learn and perfect to play with kids or family. But it definitely also comes with more depth and hard choices than first expected after reading the rules: It’s not always easy to decide whether to keep an artist and train them more or send them to the arena to perform. The timing of sending an artist can be crucial, because if one of the other players sends in an performer with the exact same upgrades right before you, the points you’ll receive are much lower. This makes it important to keep an eye on what types of performers every player has in their caravan and gives the game more player interaction than appears at first sight!
