Sagrada has become a modern classic in the world of board games, and as the game has grown in popularity, so has the number of expansions designed to enrich the gaming experience. Today, we delve into the Glory expansion, one of the three expansions in the The Great Facades series. This expansion brings new dimensions to the already beloved game, allowing players to further explore the competitive edge of crafting the stained glass windows of the iconic Sagrada Familia cathedral.

Strife Module: A New Challenge
The Strife Module introduces a new element, gray Strife Dice, which you can draft from the public pool. However, these dice come with a twist – they can only be placed on your board under specific conditions outlined on the Strife Boards. Each round ensures at least one Strife Die in the draft pool. While Strife Dice can sit next to any color, they must adhere to regular placement rules and cannot be placed next to other Strife Dice. Scoring with Strife Dice revolves around meeting the criteria of Strife Public Objectives, providing a extra challenge to rack up points.
Pioneer Module: Race to Achieve Goals
Next up is the Pioneer Module, featuring Pioneer Objectives. These objectives reward players who are the first to achieve certain goals during the game. Once you meet a goal, you can claim a Pioneer Card, which will contribute to your Victory Points at the game’s end. This module encourages timely and strategic play, pushing you to reach milestones before your opponents.

Flourish Module: Crafting with Creativity
The Flourish Module introduces Flourish Cards, a new type of private objective. These cards task players with creating specific color patterns in their windows. Completing these patterns awards points, but be cautious – unfinished patterns will cost you points. It’s a risk-reward element that encourages careful planning and decision-making throughout the game.
Rivalry Public Objectives: A Competitive Twist
Finally, the Rivalry Public Objectives bring a competitive edge. These objectives are scored differently from those in the base game, focusing on how your achievements stack up against other players. For a competitive twist, integrate these objectives into your game, especially when playing with the Strife Module.
Our Thoughts on the Expansion
From our perspective, these modules offer a delightful enhancement for Sagrada fans. They introduce subtle yet impactful changes that enrich the gameplay without overwhelming you with complex new rules. What’s lovely about this expansion is its flexibility – you can mix and match modules to suit your gaming style, making each Sagrada session uniquely yours. If you’re a seasoned Sagrada player seeking that extra spice in your game nights, the Glory expansion could be the perfect addition to your collection.
