Gameplay Overview
In Vegetable Stock, players compete over six rounds to collect vegetables and influence their market value based on what’s left over each round. The game’s prices start between 0 and 4, with vegetables randomly assigned to price cards.
At the start of each round, the market is filled with one more card than there are players. Beginning with the first player, each participant picks one card to add to their collection. The card left behind impacts the market: each vegetable shown on that card increases in price, but if any price exceeds 5, it crashes down to 0.
After the sixth and final round, the prices are locked in. Players then calculate the value of their harvest by multiplying the quantity of each vegetable they collected by its final price. The player with the most valuable set of vegetables wins.

Game Information
Vegetable Stock is a quick and accessible card game for 2-6 players, ages 7 and up, with a playtime of around 15 minutes. The rules are straightforward, making it a game that anyone can jump into and enjoy. Designed by Zong-Ger and published by Good Game Studio, it’s easy to learn but offers enough strategy to keep everyone at the table engaged.
Components, Production, and Artwork
The game’s production has a delightful simplicity that suits its light-hearted nature. The playful design, with its cute and vibrant vegetable illustrations, makes it visually appealing without overwhelming the experience. However, while the component quality is decent overall, the box is a bit flimsy—so handle it with care if you want it to last. The card stock is solid enough for a quick, pick-up-and-play game like this, but don’t expect anything overly luxurious. Still, the charming artwork does a great job of drawing players into the game’s cheerful, market-themed world.
Gameplay and Strategy
Vegetable Stock offers a nice balance between light strategy and moderate player interaction. The main tension lies in the drafting mechanism, where you’ll need to keep an eye on what your opponents are collecting and anticipate how they might influence the market. Knowing when to grab a card and when to let one slip through to manipulate prices is key. The indirect competition is friendly enough for casual players but still provides satisfying moments of “gotcha” when you outmaneuver your friends.
Luck does play a role, as the vegetable cards are dealt randomly each round, but strategic drafting and market manipulation can make all the difference. The core of the game is about timing: knowing when to invest in certain vegetables without pushing prices too high, leading to a crash. It’s a bit like trying to ride the stock market—only with more carrots and fewer tears.
To keep things unpredictable, you can add the optional Sun and Typhoon cards. The Sun card adds an extra vegetable card to the current round, leading to even more market adjustments and shaking things up further. On the other hand, the Typhoon card temporarily prevents price crashes, keeping things steady at 5 for a round. These additions can create some unpredictable twists, adding just the right amount of spice—or should I say, veggies?
Final Thoughts
We had a blast with Vegetable Stock! It’s the kind of game that’s light enough to wrap up a gaming night or to play with kids but still has enough depth to keep everyone interested. The blend of luck and strategy works well here, with plenty of opportunities to outthink your opponents—or be foiled by a well-timed market crash. If you enjoy games with a dash of strategy and a sprinkle of unpredictability, this one’s definitely worth a look.
