Kingdoms of Akandia is now live on Kickstarter! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kingdoms-of-akandia/kingdoms-of-akandia-volume-1-the-seven-realms/

We’ve been lucky enough to receive a prototype copy of the game recently and had the chance to try out the chapter ‘The King’, which is the first part of the series in which you’ll travel through the stories of the seven realms.

But just because this was the first chapter doesn’t mean there wasn’t a lot of stuff happening already, with creatures appearing across the map followed by fierce battles in an attempt to smack them down. Overall you’ll find yourself traveling through the kingdom on your way to collect resources which you need to develop your character, leveling them up and crafting new equipment to prepare for the fight. Careful planning is needed as space for resources in your backpack is limited.

The story leads you through the game and tells you what to do next, which creatures appear next and allows you to perform side quests. There’s an amount of tower defense and you can also recruit garrisons. Certain events will also be triggered by the time track that runs all around the map, and there’s a destiny card drawn at the start of each round which influences gameplay.

We were very impressed with this first chapter of Kingdoms of Akandia and the captivating experience it provided us. There is an immersive story that truly draws you into the game, with tense encounters and players will have to work together by exchanging resources and fighting creatures together for powerful group abilities. Each of the heroes has a set of special skills and can unlock different equipment over the course of the game.
